This lovely villa is situated in the heart of Chianti region, near Siena, at about one hour from Florence, Bonci is a delightful Tuscan home with a small swimming pool. It has recently been restored using the skills of local artisans which can be seen in the use of wrought iron and the restoration of the furniture. It is set in its own "English" style garden with lovely views over the vineyards from both the house, garden and swimming pool. It is an ideal holiday home for a young family or two families spending time together. The house is on 2 floors and it sleeps up to 8 people. An excellent location for exploring the historic towns of Radda in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti. A local chef lives in a nearby house and she is available to cook traditional country food when requested. very good A lovely well equipped villa in a beautiful location. Hard to find if coming through Pianella. My main comments are that the pool area is dated and very small whereas it could be a stunning relaxation area. I was in the upstairs bedroom which was perfect but the downstairs one was very dark with no ceiling light at all making it very hard to find things in the wardrobe. The visitors book could be updated with the latest restaurants and sample menus of the most recommended ones. More plug in insect repellent would be handy too. Apart from that it was great. Thank you. |

very good Dear Sonia, We were generally very happy. The villa was a good size and well provisioned in terms of towels and basic cooking ingredients etc. The location is very good. The pool was a little disappointing as it was very small and the access was not very easy. Whilst not a major issue for us if we had had older children it would have been more of an issue. It is really only a dip pool. We also think air conditioning would have been a bonus. The food prepared by the owner was great and a real selling point. All in all I think it made us appreciate that a villa is a better option than a hotel, but next time we would want to check out the pool and air con as prerequisites. very good Monina -- We did indeed have a very nice stay at Bonci. It was a lovely, warm week and we're already planning our next trip to Italy. The house and the setting were completely charming. And Georgio and Joanna were very helpful (and Joanna's welcome dinner our first Sat. evening was perfect -- and delicious). The next-door neighbors did crank up their lawnmower at 6 pm our last evening (Friday) and that put a damper on our sunset glass of wine in the front yard, but that was a minor disruption. Thanks again for all your help. And I'm just seeing the deposit request today -- so I'm guessing it's not necessary now. Let me know. Best wishes, David |
