The main villa is lovely and unique and all residing there were pleased and excited with their rooms. The annex has a few quirks (e.g., car seats sitting on the floor of the anteroom to the downstairs bedroom) but those who stayed there enjoyed it nonetheless. Those in the farmhouse were also happy, although it is definitely a distinct quality step down in comparison with the villa in terms of furnishings (especially in the living areas) and in conveniences (lack of water and extremely basic shower/bathrooms), even given understanding that it is a simple stone farmhouse. From all parts of the estate the views and gardens and pools were spectacular. There is great space for joint meals/gatherings, both inside and out, which we made the most of, and a good size room upstairs with large screen where many of us watched World Cup games in the evenings. We had some problems figuring out how to let ourselves in/out the main electronic gate as there were so many of us relative to available keys, but had it resolved by week end. The staff led by Rita were exceptional; they were accommodating, inventive, went out of their way to be helpful, and provided delicious and good value meals.
About Home In Italy, my experience was excellent. I felt fully supported by you and your colleagues from the beginning all the way through to our departure. The whole process was very smooth and easy from my perspective. Also, the phone call from you during the week we were there was also very much appreciated; although we had no problems, it was good to know that you were still there for support if needed.
All the best,
“Beautiful venue, wonderful experience”
After searching for a suitable location throughout Tuscany and Umbria for our wedding, we settled on Villa La Valadier. It turned out to be the perfect choice with its own private chapel, enough accommodation space (in the Villa, Annex and Diamond Cottage) for all the guests for 4 nights, plenty of land, splendid views, terrific staff and food and cool pools to enjoy in the September sun. Every one of the guests enjoyed their time immensely and the staff, in particular Reno and Rita, went out of their way to help us in any way they could. The barbecue was a great treat - they use a converted old agricultural plough as the barbecue! This was truly a memorable experience and we don't think we could have chosen a more suitable place for our needs. We wish we could go back one day and do it all again. Hopefully someone from our group will also choose Villa Valadier for their wedding! Fingers crossed. Once again - thank you so much to all the staff at the Villa for helping make this occasion truly unforgettable.
“Best Birthday Celebration”
My partner & I were joined by 21 friends, from Australia, the Usa and France, for my 60th Birthday celebrations. We rented the whole complex so our celebrations would be just us. From the moment we arrived the owner Anna and her wonderful manager/chef Rita made us feel so welcome. No request was too much. The food was fantastic and the cooking lessons with Ritas' mum was great fun (the perfect hangover cure after the Birthday Party). The setting is idyllic and lounging by the pool or hanging in the hammock is perfect. The Birthday dinner started with canapés served on the front lawn and then dinner an was alfresco under the grape covered arches looking toward the township of Spoleto. A very special evening.
Rita organized our bus trip to Siena and several dinners in Spoleto. Nothing seems to be beyond her organizational capabilities.
The Villa itself is magical and the restoration is quite amazing. A wonderful venue for a special occassion , or just a getaway from the rat race.
We hope that we will be able to return in the not too distant future.
We stayed here with a group of 23 to celebrate a significant birthday. The villa is set in an idyllic situation on top of a hill with panoramic views in all directions. Lying by the pool in the hammock was very special. The staff were all amazing, nothing was too much trouble. We had a cooking lesson with "Nonna" and many meals there including barbecues and al fresco meals under the grape covered pergola. There are a number of towns locally well worth a visit and the town of Spoleto nearby is charming. It is only just over an hour by train to Rome. We would highly recommend the villa especially for a group. There are some single rooms and many doubles as well, all with en-suites. We hope to go back!
HOUSEKEEPER and LOCAL STAFF
Amazing, warm, caring, attentive. We have only glowing words for the local staff. They went above and beyond. All our guests were impressed and touched by the innumerable thoughtful gestures. Rita Gentile, the housekeeper who supervises the local staff in the Villa complex, is like a fairy: she reads your mind and tries to make every moment special and memorable. She can magically solve all problems and arrange everything from flower decorations for an evening reception to group-booking for a spa. One could not ask for more. The cooks are very talented. The gardener and baby sitters are very attentive.
Beautiful and elegant historical building, very well maintained and managed by the local staff. The ancient charm is complemented by modern services, including air conditioning. Fantastic views. Very quiet. Cool and ventilated at night even during super warm summer days. The swimming pool and garden are an additional source of bliss.
VILLA ANNEX 1: Our friends staying in this annex were very happy. It is less fancy than the Villa but it is very comfortable and pleasant. It is connected to the Villa and our friends could fully enjoy all the perks of the Villa.
“What a treat !”
We spent 5 days in April at the annex to this impressive XVIIIth century villa, a few miles outside Spoleto (This was the countryside residence of the powerful Noble family ; a palace is now hosting a bank in this city).
The place is very well refurbished, with a discreet, yet obvious good taste. We were like at home, very cosy and never disturbed.
And the area is full of marvelous villages, churches and paintings by Perugino and Pinturicchio

“close to nature and art in LV!!”
If you need to take a rest form everyday life the La Valadier is a special place. I appreciated the beauty of storic villa full of interesting pieces of art. The view form Villa is death breathing. I found total harmony there. The villa is located on the hill, surrounded by olive trees (in the morning there is a fog above and the paysage looks mysterious.) I was feeling close to the nature in that place. The people who are a part of staff are very nice, competent and you will remember them for their sympathy and warm reception. The rooms are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. AWESOME place!
I highly recommend the stay here :)
My brother-in-law was given the responsibility of organising a long celebration weekend for my sister-in-law’s birthday for family and friends, a party of 22 people. After weeks of trawling the web and becoming increasingly depressed at the offerings, he stumbled into Villa Valadier. His initial reaction was “too good to be true”. His cynicism was wholly misplaced. This place is very special indeed: stunning setting; beautiful and very sympathetic restoration; and extraordinarily good value for money. But by fat the most impressive element was the way we were all treated. Anna, the owner, was delightful and her team, led by Rita, could not possibly have done more to make us feel welcome. Having stayed at top hotels and villas all over Italy, including Hotel Danieli in Venice, we can honestly say Villa la valadier was a clear winner, on every count.
“Anything is possible”
The house has a prominent position in the countryside at the top of a hill with olive grove, pine and fruit trees, bamboo plantation and rolling fields, not to mention the signature of residence - the avenue of cypresses leading to the front facade. Standing there, looking over the various views with the sun warm on your face and the strong smell of pine trees and wild herbs underfoot such as mint and oregano, you understand the meaning of the word 'timeless.'
A small team of people are working on turning the villa into a comfortable and well serviced place to stay. But not at the cost of sacrificing its character. Antique furniture rubs up against modern wet rooms and bathrooms as only the Italians provide with such panache.
Restoration of the furniture is happening on site in a sewing room and a carpentry workshop. Mm - I would like to do that. Two large studios offer a great space for painting or drawing - I'd like to do have a go at that, given the wonderful views.. A large sun terrace invites early morning yoga practice - oh how I would love to do that. A fabulous kitchen and a team of local cooks will guarantee you never go hungry - I'd like to learn how to make some of those wonderful local dishes.
Anything is possible at the Villa Valadier. You could even just do nothing.

“See you again at Villa La Valadier”
What a lovely place to stay! The villa and it's grounds are situated a little outside Spoleto in Terraia - on the top of a hill with sunning views. We stayed end of September at the cottage. It's equipped with all you need for self catering. The beds were good and the three bed rooms furnished in a charming style.
As the weather was still very warm it was a luxury to have our own pool right outside the house, with sundeck chairs and sun beds next to it. Another great thing - there is a dishwasher in the ktichen and a washing machine available.
People from the Villa are very kind and welcoming. Thanks again for organising the group shuttle for us to get to Perugia and Assisi.
Hope to meet you again, we enjoyed our stay a lot. Chi vidiamos doppo :-)
