It is on this side of Lake Como or Lario, its ancient name, that the great Italian writer Alessandro Manzoni spent part of his childhood. The family in fact had a property in Lecco. It was here that the novelist set the events of his most famous work "I Promessi Sposi", with that incipit that made these shores immortal: "That branch of Lake Como, which turns towards noon ...".

Lecco
City with an industrial vocation with a nineteenth-century core. The symbolic monument is the Ponte di Azzone Visconti or Ponte Vecchio, still in use today. In the historical center stands Villa Manzoni, which belonged to the family of the great writer until 1818. Among the historical places recognizable in the novel, the Convent of the Capuchins in Pescarenico.

San Pietro al Monte
An architectural and artistic complex of great value, located in Civate. It stands on a ledge of Monte Cornizzolo at over 600 m in height. An absolute masterpiece is the Ciborium inside the church of San Pietro which surmounts the altar.

Varenna
Small jewel village on the shores of the lake. Once a fishing center, it is now an elegant refuge for tourists seeking tranquility. The Villa Monastero and the church of San Giorgio are beautiful.

Bellagio
At the center of the lake, it rises on the confluence of the two branches of Como and Lecco. The beauty of its villas has always attracted visitors. Discover our magnificent Villa Brezza and Villa Giuseppina.

Menaggio
At the beginning of the valley that leads to Lake Lugano, it is the ideal starting point for reaching various sites: the paths of the Val Sanagra Park; the Via Ferrata of Mount Grona and the climbing wall between the town and the hamlet of Nobiallo.

Gravedona
Famous since the Middle Ages, this town preserves the famous church of Santa Maria del Tiglio. Refined in composition, it takes its name from a lime tree that grew on the bell tower shortly after its construction.

Abbey of Piona
This abbey was founded in the 11th-12th century. The cloister in Romanesque and Gothic style is stunning. Here you can buy the delicious Gocce Imperiali or Tintura Imperiale liqueur, also produced in other abbeys in Italy.

Orrido di Bellano
It is a natural gorge created by the Pioverna River. Its waters over the centuries have shaped these passages characterized by caves and ravines. A footbridge allows the visit of the narrow gorge.

Valsassina
Enclosed between the mountain massif of the Grigne and the Orobie Alps, Valsassina has always been a point of union between the lake and the mountains. Its ski resorts and its typical products, such as taleggio and robiola cheeses, and polenta are worth the visit.
