handy tips on villas in italy

How to find the perfect villa for you in Italy booking a property on your own? If you want to avoid spending weeks on the Web, scrolling through an overwhelming array of villas in Italy offered by dozens of rental agencies, we recommend you to read our invaluable tips:

luxury, privacy, charm, comfort and service

A cool web site with villas all over the world does not guarantee a real knowledgeable rental of a specific villa in Italy. In fact, most of the time, the more villas and countries in an agency's portfolio, the less the rental agents know about the villas they represent. We are specialists for Italy and for villas in Italy. All the villas you will find on this website are personally selected by our experienced staff, and inspected before the start of the rental season and during the year.

ask questions

You will be surprised at how many questions, on each villa you are considering on our web site, are well enough answered by us. Our detailed knowledge indoors and outdoors and the surrounding area, demonstrates that we personally handpick all the villas we have on our website, which represents some of the loveliest villas in Italy.

search tool

Use our home page advanced search tool: you will find all the villas in Italy listed on the 'Home in Italy' website divided by their main characteristics. A family friendly villa or a toddler-friendly house may relate to a villa with safe staircases, with a pool at a reasonable distance from the property, preferably gated and heated, with a lawn preferably totally fenced. Not all the family friendly villas guarantee all these characteristics together, so please read carefully the description of each villa. We generally avoid listing among family friendly villas in Italy those ones with wobbly antiques, twisting terra-cotta staircases, breakable bric-a-brac, and open-hearth fireplaces.

each villa page

On each villa page you will find Facilities, Amenities, Main distances, Notes and Rates of our villas in Italy. To know exactly what a specific villa is like, you can go to each villa page, and read under the Notes section and the Facilities section. For example, if a mosquito net is not mentioned under the Facilities section, it means that the villa doesn't provide it.

do you have a full week or less?

Most villas in Italy have a one-week minimum, usually Saturday to Saturday. You don't have to stay for the whole seven days, but you do have to pay for them.

which amenities do you require? Must-have and have-nots list

Send us a must have list. In addition to exquisite hilltop views and a short walk into town, some of you may want to bring a dog. Others may suffer from allergies, for instance, and require a property with no animals on it. Information "villas in Italy with pets allowed" or "no smoking villas in Italy", can be found on each villa page under the Notes section. Easier still, e-mail us with your must-haves and have-nots list.

how many staff do you need?

You may not need any help other than a cook. Furthermore, an inviting half-time or full-time housekeeper can make a home. Information about staff, can be found at the bottom of each villa page where it is mentioned whether the maid/cook is included or not, and most of the villas will have information on the extra cost for these services. Please note that a cook will take from 4 to 6 hours to prepare a dinner for up to 8 people.

don't forget to send us your shopping list!

This is just a recommendation as shops are closed on Sundays in Italy. Your arrival will be on a Saturday, and what could be better than arriving at your Italian villa and opening the fridge containing all your favourite foods? You just need to send us a shopping list preferably up to a week before your arrival and the villa staff will ensure a fully, personally-stocked fridge. The maid will do the shopping and deliver the food at the villa. The cost of this service (30 euros) is payable directly, in cash, to the maid plus the cost of the food (a receipt will be provided).

first day at the villa in Italy, what will you need to bring?

For the first day you will find sufficient hand soap, toilet paper, kitchen roll, bags for rubbish, washing up liquid, soap for dishwasher, washing powder, sponges. For Breakfast for the first day in our villas in Italy you will find instant coffee, tea, milk, bread, jam, butter, bottled water, 1 bottle of white wine, cheese, eggs, ham and sugar. Linen, towels including pool towels are provided in every villa, also hairdryers.

we take care of you

A villa's cost has little to do with maximum occupancy. Rather, it reflects the facilities, staff size, degree of privacy, and amount of help. Our rentals include a 24-hour concierge service, a house book, the option of paying by credit card, and a great selection of properties among the thousands of villas in Italy offered in the market.

add up the extras

When you rent private villas in Italy there are expenses you might incur, for instance; charges for air-conditioning, heating, pool heating. Once you have chosen the villa, we will be as realistic as possible when calculating an estimation of these extra costs, so that there are no unwelcome surprises while you are on holiday in our villas in Italy.
