Our exclusive villa Mapal in Sicily is close to Noto, famous for its fine
buildings of the early eighteenth century, considered among the main masterpieces
in the Sicilian baroque style, is located nearby the city of Syracuse at the
foot of the Iblean Mountains and gives its name to the surrounding valley,
val di Noto. In 2002 Noto and its church were declared a UNESCO World Heritage
Site.
During the annual event held in May called “infiorata”, Noto becomes
one giant floral display with every street and piazza lined with flowers in
a celebration accompanied by concerts and plays. Petals of different kinds
of flowers are used to create a variety of figures, often with religious,
mythological or social themes.
The Aeolian islands are seven little volcanic islands surrounded by a warm
and deep sea with an atmosphere that recalls a history of sea adventures going
back 5000 years.
The main island Lipari, is the largest of the Aeolian Islands. Its volcanic
nature is revealed by its dominating colours, the white of the pomice stones
scattered all around the coastline and the black of the obsidian of Castellaccio
Vecchio.
The volcanic phenomenon can also be observed in the island's thermal
springs. Our exclusive villa Labruni in Sicily, on top of a hill, offers spectacular
views of the sea and the Mediterranean vegetation.
