Situated between Massa Lubrense and Sorrento, perfect for a honeymoon, Perla, a romantic luxury cottage for 2 guests with a private pool, high on the clifftop, dominates over Sorrento and part of the Sorrentine coast, in Italy.
The property consists of a main villa and the cottage Perla, which is situated in a completely separate area. Distance and terraced gardens guarantee complete privacy to both houses.
The cottage is obtained from the renovation of an Aragon watchtower built in 1400. At the time, the Saracen raids on the coast of the Sorrento and Amalfi peninsula were frequent and the sovereigns implemented a series of watchtowers along the coast. When the soldiers on guard sighted a Saracen boat, they gave the alarm and Perla was, therefore, a connecting tower between the two sides.
Perla is accessible through a private, security protected road, which also leads to other villas immersed in the greenery of this hillside, bordering the coastline. Inside the fenced in garden, there is outdoor parking for one car. From the entrance gate, you descend forty steps to the cottage. The delightful small garden of Perla is equipped with high-quality sun lounges, outdoor chairs and a splendid panoramic terrace, from where you can admire the view of the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius and breathe in an atmosphere of peace and serenity. The terrace is also accessible directly from the kitchen and is furnished for candlelit dinners overlooking the breath-taking scenery. The swimming pool can be heated. Perla has recently been renovated retaining its beautiful original stone walls and using brand new furniture. Space has been cleverly divided and the functional kitchen is well equipped.
Both the ground and lower ground floors have doors and French doors making it possible to exit directly to the terraced gardens of the villa and their enchanting areas.
Sorrento, on a three-kilometre distance, is the ideal base for excursions to all the Sorrentine coast. From Sorrento, it is also possible to take the ferry or hydrofoil to Capri and Ischia. You may also take the train, to visit ancient Pompeii and Herculaneum. The nearest sandy beach is three kilometres away, which is more or less a ten-minute drive.

The view is so amazing the patio & pool area & the grounds are kept very nicely that one forgets the little flaws, bedroom & living area is great, however missed having a full length mirror. "Our trip to Italy was the third time we booked with HII and they did not disappoint. We really enjoyed Sorrento and part of why we enjoyed it was Perla. There really isn't a better view of Sorrento, Naples, the bay of Naples, etc than this location. The grounds for the property were perfect. A great covered patio. A large yard with lush vegetation. A great pool. And did I mention the view? In other words, if part of why you select your home for the week is the outside location and privacy, then this is your choice. Keep in mind that having a great view of what I mention above has a price - you either need to walk into town (about a 20 minute walk) or take a taxi which can be pricey (25 euros). We ended up walking into town and taking a taxi back for the very steep hillside. The inside was very nice too. It did not compare to the outside. If you are not a smaller in size person, beware that the shower is narrow and will be difficult to navigate. Overall a 10!"

"Lovely small villa perched on top of a cliff above Sorrento with commanding views of Napoli, Versuvio and Sorento. Villa is simple but clean and well laid out. The key holder Massimiliano is outstanding. He really looked after us when we bashed our hire car, gave us generous ingredients to make a meal when we arrived late on first night and good suggestions of restaurants and places to visit. If I have one suggestion it is this. The property has €1m views, but 2 trees in front of the kitchen and terrace have grown up and completely obscure it, so you have to go to the corner of the terrace to appreciate it. The owner should chop them down so guests can fully enjoy this fantastic asset. "

"We had a wonderful stay thank you! One little thing - the shower didn't drain properly but apart from that, it was all exceptional! Thanks so much for your help!"

"This house is a real gem. The location is perfect, close to the Sorrento center and on the road to all the main attractions of the Amalfi coast. From the moment we arrived at the villa we knew that the experience would be amazing. Massimiliano welcomed us with a glass of Limoncello and he gave us all the information about the house. We were speechless by the incredible view, the surroundings, the interiors but mostly by the quality of services provided Massimiliano, Claudio and Maria and Home in Italy. For example, when we arrived we had food in the fridge for at least 2 days: milk, cheese, ham, bread, eggs, coffee, juice, fruits. Never experienced such a good service before and we travel a lot and rent houses all around the world.
We rented the house for two weeks and visited Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and Capri, either by car or by ferry. Our stay at La Perla is one of the best we ever had. This is the kind of place where you just want to stay and enjoy the beautiful pool, terrace, gardens. Tired of pizzas and pastas at the restaurants, we cooked and had a lot of meals at home, including a terrific dinner cooked on the BBQ. Massimiliano gave us all the good spots to shop so going to the butcher, the bakery or just buy cheese and prosciutto from Lisa was the highlight of this trip.
The villa is immaculate and they come to clean and change the bed linens and towels every third day. The pool was cleaned all the time and it seems that they do all that by checking if you’re there because we were never at the villa when they did it. Isn’t amazing to come back from a day trip and notice that everything has been cleaned?
I highly recommend La Perla to anyone and the service provided by Home in Italy has been perfect on all levels."
