Check-in and check out

Check-in time is usually between 4pm and 7pm and check out time is within 10am, unless differently agreed with our Concierge team prior to your arrival. We ask your cooperation in leaving on time since the villa staff may have very little time to prepare for the arrival of the next guests. Failure to arrive and depart within the agreed times may result in an additional fees.

In-villa supplies

Home In Italy offers the possibility to provide a personalized list of provisions for guests to find directly in the villa upon arrival. This is usually intended for an amount of items for the first 2 days of your stay. Contact our Concierge team to know more about the cost of this service at your villa.

Telephone and Internet connection

Most of the villas have telephone lines, mobile and wi-fi internet connection. Due to the remote location of some of our homes the mobile line or the internet connection might be unstable at times. This is always mentioned in the description of the villa.

Cooking service

Some of our properties are fully staffed and have the cooking services included. For all the other properties contact our Concierge team in advance to arrange one of our recommended chefs or local cooks to prepare meals at your villa. Please note that the cooks, chefs and maids are not employed directly by Home In Italy so we can not take responsibility if the person becomes unavailable or is considered unsuitable.

Road quality

Most roads leading to our properties are gravel roads – i.e. not made of asphalt. Seasonal storms can quickly reduce the quality of a road. The owners and caretakers will repair them as quickly as possible, Home In Italy is not responsible for any damage that may occur to vehicles.

Heating

Heating might be required in villas rented before May and around the middle of October onwards. The extra cost to it related must be paid to the key holder upon departure. For some properties separate gas meters are read and the cost is on consumption, other owners provide a weekly estimate based on average consumption.

Pets

Small pets of any kind are allowed only in some of our villas. Please make sure you mention you wish to travel with a pet at the moment of booking in order to ask the permission of the owner.

Insects and disturbances

Since most of our properties are situated in rural areas and are surrounded by cultivated fields, farm machinery might be used from time to time. Presence of animals or of any other noise is always mentioned in the description of the villa. Particularly in our country properties, it is possible to come across various kind of insects such as ants, beetles, spiders, mosquitoes etc. Most supermarkets sell a variety of powders and sprays or small electric devices that keep insects away.

Swimming pools

The swimming pools at our properties are open from the 1st Saturday of May to the 1st Saturday of October, unless differently indicated in the description of the villa. The property owner may choose to lengthen or shorten this period. If this is a determining factor in your choice of properties, please check with our staff.

Size of beds

In most of the descriptions of our villas we provide the exact size of the beds. When that is not specified with ‘double bed’ we mean a mattress that is 160 cm (64 inch) wide and 190 cm (76 inch) long, a ‘big double bed’ is 170 cm (68 inch) wide and 190 cm (76 inch) long, a ‘queen bed’ is 150 cm (59 inch) wide and 190 cm (76 inch) long, a ‘king bed’ is 190 cm (76 inch) wide and 190 cm (76 inch) long. A ‘French bed’ is about 120-130 cm (48-54 inch) wide and 190 cm (76 inch) long. ‘Twin beds’ are two single beds 80-90 cm (32-36 inch) wide and 190 cm (76 inch) long.

Tipping

This custom is not widely used throughout Italy. Tips are not included in the rental fee, nor are mandatory, however gratuities are very well received. Guests should feel free, however a small tip to the villa caretaker, cook, maid, porters and mini-bus drivers is expected and appreciated.
