The architects honoured the past and present in this circa-1800 luxury family villa in Umbria, Todi area, today available for weekly rentals with a heated pool. The interiors of the villa follow a formula that combines practical comfort and high-drama visual impact for a design-savvy modern family or friends.
The most striking feature of villa Althea is its fabulous scenic setting. Perched on a hilltop in the rolling countryside near Todi, it enjoys a stunning 360-degree view of the surrounding arable land and distant valleys.
This traditional stone farmhouse has been recently furnished with impressive pieces of contemporary art and stylish furniture in contrast with its stone walls, archways, and wooden-beamed ceilings.
The panelled walls and the graceful staircase make the wood a key feature throughout the house. One of the bedrooms has been decorated with an Arabian theme, full of rich colours and fine textures.
A fence surrounds the beautiful gardens to ensure privacy.
On the poolside, facing the pool area, there is a verandah furnished for eating while enjoying the landscape.
On the ground floor, there is a sound diffuser that plays independently from the one on the first floor.
The villa is easily accessible from the road via a short stretch of well-maintained gravel track.
Doglio, a little village with a grocery shop and a coffee bar food can be reached on foot or by car.
Villa Althea boasts an ideal location to visit Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Civita di Bagnoregio, and Assisi. Furthermore, it is just 1:30 by car from Rome.

“Heaven on top of the hill
When you enter through the gates of the property, you see right away how amazing the view is. At 560 meters above the sea, you have more than 180 degrees view, with Todi below, and fantastic landscape with amazing peace and quiet. I don’t think we have ever seen a more fantastic view anywhere in Italy. The house is huge and the interior is very high quality, yet still feels comfortable. Massimo was a great help, and the surrounding villages of Todi, Monte Castello di Vibio, and a little further to Perugia or Orvieto are all great trips. We will be back ;-)”

“We loved our stay at Althea with our family. The house was beautiful and we enjoyed the pool and football/tennis court daily. The beds were very comfortable and we felt like we were at home. The clothes dryer was not functioning so it took a long time to dry our laundry after washing.

Massimo, the property manager welcomed us so warmly and also made sure all of our needs were addressed during our stay. We really enjoyed our cooking/dining experience with Chef Daniele and his mother where we all prepped and enjoyed a delicious Italian meal and wines. Our wine tasting lunch in Spello that came along with our home reservation with Luca was also another highlight of our stay. We loved visiting the nearby towns and lakes during our stay, also. The only minor issue was that we came at an extremely hot time and the kitchen area was warm for most of the later mornings and afternoons on the hot days as there is no downstairs air conditioning. The upstairs is very well air-conditioned so we would go upstairs during some of the hotter days when we were home. Amazing trip!”

Our entire family was very pleasantly surprised to see the Villa in person having only seen it in photos. The photos did not lie, it was exactly as it was presented to be. The staff, chef, manager were all extremely pleasant and our experience with them was superb. Even the motorized robot who mowed the lawn became a part of our team, go Alfred.... Our only regret is that we stayed only one week. In a place like this you need to stay a month. “

"The villa is as beautiful as is described. However, you cannot appreciate the location and the view from just pictures. It was stunning. One of our favorite nights was sitting outside watching the fireworks from nearby Todi. Great experience!
The pool would not heat enough for me, I think partly because it was so cool at night, but just sitting by it and enjoying the view was fantastic."
