Rome, the Christmas market in Piazza Navona
One of the most loved Christmas traditions in the Eternal City is the annual Christmas fair in Piazza Navona, the heart of the historic centre. The majestic square hosts musicians and artisans with hand-made products and represents a suggestive recall for both locals and tourists who want to see Rome in a wonderful Christmas guise. The great funfair is also the perfect place for children with themed activities which include games and puppet shows. The magical event usually ends every year on Epiphany Day with the arrival of La Befana to bring candy to well-behaved children and sugar-made charcoal to the naughty ones. Last call for kids to behave!

Gubbio, a world-record Christmas tree
From December 7th to January 8th 2023, this medieval town in Umbria hosts the largest Christmas tree in the world. Firstly inaugurated in 1981, this Christmas tradition recalls travellers from all over the country to admire the shimmering colourful lights on the slopes of Monte Ingino. The lights get turned on every year by a special guest and can be seen from 30 miles away. While the roots of the impressive lighting decoration lie in the walls of the historic village, the shooting star on the top reaches the church dedicated to Saint Ubaldo, regarded as the patron saint of Gubbio. With a majestic height of 750 meters, Gubbio is also mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records!
