Medieval villages and castles. But also mines, olive groves and lagoons. This is Tuscany, a region of a thousand villages, rich in history and art. Enjoy the secret and authentic Tuscany with our selection of the best places to see off the beaten track, away from the crowd.

Orbetello
Orbetello is a very special town. Lying on a narrow promontory inside the lagoon, it is protected by brackish waters and incredible nature. The town reveals the signs of the Spanish rule and it is the ideal place to discover the Argentario with its seaside resorts and the Feniglia Park.

Capalbio
Capalbio is a small medieval village that stands on a hill between the Lazio region and Tuscan Maremma. Also known as "Little Athens", it hosts many cultural events, especially in the summer. Visit its tower and admire the priceless panorama from the walls.

Pieve di Santo Stefano
Pieve di Santo Stefano is a small village in the Aretino Apennines, on the border with Marche and Umbria. It is bathed by the waters of a young Tiber, and from 1984 it hosts the National Diary Archive, a public archive, which collects writings by ordinary people in which the life of everyone and the history of Italy are reflected in various forms: they are diaries, letters, autobiographical memories.

Giglio Porto
Giglio Porto is a small village on the island of Giglio, in the province of Grosseto. It is the perfect place from which to explore the island, both by land and by sea. Characterized by colorful houses close to the hills, it houses an ancient Roman swimming pool.

Castagneto Carducci takes its name from the Tuscan poet Giosuè Carducci, who lived here in the first years of his life. It is a maritime village of the Alta Maremma, with an irresistible charm. It is the perfect meeting point between sea and countryside, an encounter that has an important enogastronomic aspect, where seafood dishes are accompanied by those of the land.
